I tried making this Turmeric Latte for the first time in a period of abstinence from alcohol (I needed to make it interesting!) I fell in love. Turmeric is one of the most extensively researched spices we have and according to many sources, it can help in cancer prevention and a host of other health benefits. Whatever the health benefits may or may not be, it’s a truly comforting drink for Autumn and Winter day, and it is super simple to make.
- Almond or Coconut Milk - enough to fill your favorite mug
- 1 Tsp Honey
- 1 Heaped Tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
- Good pinch of Ground Ginger
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Essence
Gently heat the milk over a medium heat. The best milks to use are almond or coconut milk (if using coconut, use the carton variety not the tin). Add a teaspoon of honey and stir to melt. Pour a little of the milk into your cup and add the turmeric powder, cinnamon, a good pinch of ground ginger and a teaspoon of good quality vanilla essence. Stir to mix well. Once the remaining milk is hot, pour it into the mug stirring continually to mix well. If you have a latte frother, use this to give it a lovely creamy froth. Sit back, with your feet up, and enjoy!
