Balanced Snickers Style Porridge

Getting a good balance of protein, dietary fibre and healthy fats in at breakfast, helps to balance blood sugars (no more energy spikes and dips), helps you to feel fuller for longer and can also curb cravings.

If you like an oat based breakfast, key is to make sure to add a source of protein. This can come from flaxseed, chia seed, Greek Yoghurt, nut butter or protein powder (and lots more). I like to mix and match a bit to keep things interesting. This recipe uses cacao powder which is a nutritional powerhouse, and a great source of protein.

If you like Snickers, then you’ll love this porridge recipe! It uses wholefood nut butter, peanuts or chia all of which add healthy fats and protein - no need for protein powder. Enjoy an indulgent, nutritious and delicious start to the day!

  • 40g Oats
  • 100ml Almond Milk
  • 1/2 Tbsp Cacao powder
  • Crushed peanuts or chia seeds
  • 1 Tsp Maple Syrup
  • 1 Tbsp Wholefood, smooth, nut butter - I use peanut but you can use any!
  • Chuck on some berries for extra nutrients

Pop all the ingredients in a pan on a medium heat stir in well and warm through. You might need a little more milk depending on the size of your oats so use your judgement, but that is all there is to it!
